ModNations Racers PSP Announced by GameSpot
Ricardo Torres, Editor in Chief at GameSpot, was in San Diego at Sony’s Development Studios to get the First scoop of the newly revealed ModNation Racers for the Playstation Portable ! The victim for Ricardo? Erich Waar, Director of Product Development & Vernon Mollette, Producer for SCEA tells us how ModNation Racers PSP came about and other tidbits regarding the big bro and little bro.
Vernon has revealed that multiplayer gaming for the portable will be 6 players for “Online” and “Ad-Hoc” for all of you Kart racing junkies to enjoy. He also mentions that you will be able to upload and download players “Characters, Karts, & Tracks.” Character Studio will have “Thousands” of different parts you can play with. Vernon gave us a little preview that you will be presented with 300 types of eyes and 250 types of mouths to choose from for your Mod.
Erich notes that one of the main goals for the PSP version of the game was to bring the “exact experience” in terms of “Play, Create, Sharing” on the PSP in similar to the PS3, and “we’re accomplishing that.” The Team wanted to have a game that was Easy to pickup & create with Interface that would familiar if you decided to go with the PS3 version first and then hop on the PSP version or vice versa. If you choose to go with the PSP version 2nd, the great thing about having the exact same tools and interface is that you will be familiar with it and creating on the Go wouldn’t be a strain to learn new ways.
Framerate for the PSP gives you sense of speed and ghosting will not be speeding across your screen as you shoot rockets at your enemies. They mention that they are fans of the Wipeout Series and have gotten help from the Liverpool guys to bring the some parts of the good parts of the engine to help “Springboard” MNR. ModNation Racers PSP will be out day and date with the Big Brother this Spring 2010 ! DAMN You Erich ! We want an Official Date !!
